This is staggeringly easy with PowerCLI, and it’ll save you a bunch of time/headaches. I just pop the following command in, and it fetches all VMs on your VCenter, updates VMWare Tools (without rebooting) and skips any turned off/incompatible machines. Simples! Get-VM | Update-Tools -NoReboot
